Why Write A Blog?

Welcome to the Opus 4 website, if you have landed on this blog you may have realised it is the very first one. I was wondering where to start, what was going to be my angle and how was I going to position it? Then I thought, why not start it like all marketing techniques, by asking the question, 'Why?'

Starting With the ‘Why’ 

Beginning by asking the question ‘Why?’ is a very good place to start (Start with Why by Simon Sinek is an excellent book, by the way). Blogging can be time consuming, mentally exhausting and leave you exposed to criticism or comeback, so why do it? There are four main reasons I have wanted us to begin our blog. These points should resonate with you and emphasise the importance of blogging and why, if you don’t already, you should consider it.

 

The 4 Reasons For the Opus Blog

 

  1. To provide useful, interesting and relevant information to our readers. The majority of people that stumble upon our blog will be people that we know, have worked with or are considering working with us. It is important that we provide you with content that shows we are thought leaders in our industry and that can help you understand more about what options are out there to help drive your business forward. So this blog will have entertaining features but, primarily, it will hopefully be used as a tool to understand more about the great and good of marketing, design and development.

  2. Blogs are great for triggering engagement and discussion with people. This is our opinion based on our knowledge and understanding, but that doesn’t necessarily make it right, so it is always good to hear feedback, thoughts and suggestions.

  1. Search Engine Optimisation companies that blog have an average of 434% more pages indexed by search engines than companies that don’t and 97% more inbound links (source: Tech Client). As you can imagine, this gives companies that blog a huge advantage over those that don’t.

  2. The crudest but most vital reason is, to generate leads, B2B marketers that use blogs receive 67% more leads than those that don’t (Source: HubSpot). We see our blog as a great way of people finding us, learning more about Opus 4 and one day, hopefully getting in contact and partnering on a project.

  

So there you have it, that is why we have started our blog, we hope you follow the journey with us, find it useful, engage with us and maybe one day follow up with point 4! Most importantly, though, I hope this prompts you to ask ‘why?’ before starting your blog. Our next blog about blogging will discuss a ‘blog strategy’.
