Meet the Team: Jen – Our Creative and Content-Driven Marketing Executive

At Opus 4 Marketing, our people are what make us who we are. Each team member brings something unique to the table, and together, we create campaigns that connect, inspire and deliver results. Today, we’re introducing you to Jen – our talented Content Executive whose words help our clients shine online. From blog writing to social captions and everything in between, Jen is the creative force behind much of the copy you see from us.

Let’s get to know her a little better…

1. What’s your role at Opus 4 Marketing, and what does a typical day look like for you?

My main role is to create all the written content for our clients’ social media and blog posts, as well as web and email copy as required. I don’t have a typical day per se, but my typical week consists of checking analytics tools to review posts, writing the next weeks’ worth of captions, scheduling once I have the graphics from my colleagues and some blog writing. Within that time, I will also respond to ad hoc requests from colleagues for web and email copy, depending on what projects/requests we have incoming and complete non-recurring tasks such as uploading new events to social media.

2. What areas of marketing do you specialise in or enjoy the most?

I love seeing what posts have gone down well with an audience and using my creativity to come up with fresh ideas for content week in, week out. I also really enjoy getting the graphics from our designer and seeing how my words have been brought to life with their imagery.

3. Which recent campaign or project have you been most proud to work on and why?

I absolutely love working on anything to do with Invitation2Murder! I think because I am from an events background originally, and outside of work I love all things theatrical, their whole business just speaks to me, and I can have a lot of fun coming up with their content! I recently put together a ‘mini murder mystery’ as a blog post and the client was so delighted with it that she asked for it to be turned into a monthly feature on the website and emails. Agatha Christie, eat your heart out!

4. What skills or tools do you use the most in your role?

I use Teams to collaborate with the team, ChatGPT for content creation support, Descript for podcast transcription, Canva for the odd graphic/video I create myself and Social Pilot, Sprout Social and Meta for scheduling and analytics.

5. What’s something you think sets Opus 4 Marketing apart?

If I was a client of Opus, I think I would be incredibly impressed by our responsiveness and turnaround times on requests. As a small team, I find we can easily pivot to meet changing demands in our workload and help each other out wherever we can to meet deadlines.

6. How did you get into marketing? Was it something you always wanted to do?

I’ve had a bit of a convoluted journey into marketing really. The early signs were there at school with me doing Psychology and English Lit as two of my A-Levels, and I considered studying one of them or Media/Communication Studies at university. But I randomly went for a Hospitality Management degree and then worked in various roles in/adjacent to the industry for the past 20 years. Many of them have included elements of marketing, including both traditional offline media and digital.

7. What was your background before joining Opus 4 Marketing?

As well as the above, I have freelanced in social media management and blogging for the past 10 years, something which I started to work around my young family. The opportunity arose at Opus 4 just at a point where my part-time events role was feeling more admin and less events, and I so am delighted to now be creating content full-time.

8. If you could swap jobs with someone else at Opus 4 for a day, who would it be and why?

I think Sean, our web developer! He’s just so talented at what he does, and I’d love to have even a fraction of the knowledge he has about websites!! It would be great to flex Sean-style skills for a day for sure.
